Life.. These Days..

Life, these days,
Is telling me,
If you listen to me,
Come with me to the lane of dreams.

Take all the fragrances,
And brightness in your arms.
Wherever you are,
The days and nights are new,
New desires and new emotions.

There are new ways for you,
Just you go and explore,
There’s new earth and new sky for you.
Write a new story on the winds.

A lonely road..

I walk a lonely road
The only one that I have ever known
Don’t know where it goes
But it’s home to me and I walk alone

My shadow’s the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart’s the only thing that’s beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
Till then I walk alone

JaiGanesh – Yeh Jo Desh Hai Tera!

October 7, 2010 8 comments

Once upon a time, while surfing though Youtube videos, I came across an interesting video composed of many photographs exhibiting the culture of India.  Background music of that video was “Yeh Jo Desh Hai Tera” song from the movie “Swadesh”, which doubled the beauty of that video. That day I dreamed  of making similar video, and “JaiGanesh” is the dream come true!

One of the Hindu rituals in India is the celebration of Lord Ganesh fest, which happens in Badrapada month (Usually comes around the September-October time) of Hindu calender.  Last year I witnessed the Lord Ganesh festival in Hyderabad and I was totally excited looking at hundreds of Ganesh Idols and the huge crowd during Ganesh Visarjan day.  This year I wanted to capture many photographs of Lord Ganesh idols and make a video out of it, so that’s how it all started!

One fine evening during the Ganesh Festival week, my friend Swamy and I roamed around many areas of Hyderabad and took hundreds of Ganesh Idol photographs. We started at around 7.30pm in the evening and continued the unplanned roaming and photography till 1 o’clock in the morning. We started from Jubille Hills, went to Khairatabad, Husaain Sagar, RTC X Road, Secundrabad, Ameerpet, Sanat Nagar and finally Borabanda. We almost got caught by some cops, as they thought we were also among the people playing cards inside one of the Ganesh pandal.  :) These photographs are uploaded here.

Next series of photographs were taken during the Ganesha Visarjan time at Hussain Sagar take, with my friends (and photographer) Sonam. Well, there was a huge crowd and it was really very hard for us to take photographs in that crowd. We lied to many saying we are media personnels and got admitted to ‘restricted’ areas and took many photographs. We used to climb cranes, install tripod in the middle of the road, lie to the security people etc and somehow managed to get decent photographs. That day we captured around 4750+ photographs. Read more in Sonam’s blog here and here.

We used many Linux and Windows software to make this video. Technical details on “Making of Yeh Jo Desh Hai Tera” is posted in my tech blog here.

Do enjoy video and let us know your feedback. Jai Ganesh, Jai Hind! :)

Let me sleep.

I have stayed awake too late,
Let me sleep for a little while,
The Night is not over yet,
Let me sleep for a little while.

Half of all my dreams and ambitions,
That were left unfulfilled,
Let me once again dream them,
In my sleep.

[From 'Jaage Hai Der Tak' song from movie Guru]

Sip 0xC0FFEE, write 0xC0DE!

Its been a while since I wrote the last blog entry. Last couple of weeks were a balance of fun-filled and somewhat hectic work days. All these days I was thinking to separate out my technical posts from my non-technical random stupid thoughts! Having decided that, next task was to find a geeky and unique name for me and for my blog.. After lots of thinking, persuasion, cerebration, cogitation etc etc, I came up with following options,

a). 0xDEADBEEF – This is been the status message in my Gtalk for quite a couple of months now. Wonder what it means? In one of the mobile platforms which I worked earlier, RAM memory used to get initialized with this pattern, this was helpful in finding out memory corruption. For no reason, I liked this pattern. I badly wanted it to be the name of my new blog, unfortunately, theres already somebody out there with the same nick name. So, I had to drop this! :(
b). /dev/null – Another geeky name which got caught in my mind. I almost decided to make it as my blog and nick name, but again, found out that this name also in use already. Afterall, all beautiful things in world are already married to some one else!. Isn’t it?
c). /dev/random – Look at this name. Such a geeky option for blog! Even better is ‘cat /dev/random’!. As before, this name is also married to someone else! Then I considered non-blocking counter-part of this file, viz, ‘cat /dev/urandom’. I almost finalized this name, created another blog named devslashurandom.wordpress.com, transferred my posts from this blog to the new one. But, at the last minute, I changed my mind again, reason is 0xC0FFEE.
d). 0xC0FFEE – Though devslashurandom is a good name, I feel its little lengthy. Then I started looking for names which can be formed with hex-decimal characters. One pattern which dragged my attention is 0xC0FFEE. Like before, even this name was also not available. Tweaking this name a bit and dropping the initial 0, I came up with the pattern xC0FEE. I liked this pattern for as it was short, sweet, geeky. This pattern is said to used in 24-bit byte DSP like Motorola 56303 and I am passionate towards Motorola. Last, but not the least reason to finalize this name is because I like coffee. :)

So, welcome to my new technical blog ‘xC0FFEE’ at xc0ffee.wordpress.com. Going forward xCOFFEE will have all technical posts, whereas this blog will continue having my personal thoughts!. I have already transferred all my technical posts to the new blog already.

Cheers.
